At Lemonade Photos, we believe photography is more than just images—it's storytelling, emotion, and history frozen in time. This spring, we had the incredible honor of partnering with the Enduring Families Project in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to create a series of stunning, historically inspired portraits that celebrate Black history in the region.

The Enduring Families Project is a powerful initiative dedicated to sharing the often untold stories of African American residents in La Crosse’s early history. Through theatrical performances, community engagement, and visual storytelling, the project brings these essential narratives to life—honoring the individuals who helped shape the cultural and civic landscape of the city.

We were thrilled to contribute to this mission by creating time-period portraits that reflected the historical essence of these stories. Each person was styled with meticulous attention to vintage attire, accessories, and atmosphere to evoke the spirit of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. From elegant top hats and waistcoats to classic brooches and bonnets, every detail was a nod to the rich heritage being honored.
