After The Smash: What to do with the Messy Aftermath of Your Cake Smash Session

Getting your babies first birthday pictures done with a fun and unique cake smash session is an absolute must. But the truth is, once that cake gets smashed in that one little corner and your little one has dug their fingers into the frosting you are left with a rather large chunk of cake that's still edible but absolutely not table ready.

Cake Smash session Onalaska Wisconsin

Here at the studio, not only do I get the backdrop and props ready for you, but I also provide 2 outfits and even the cake for your little ones smash cake session. You literally just show up with your baby in tow ready to eat cake and I'll do the rest. This also goes for when it's time to go. With a sink in the studio you're able to wash your baby up with my all natural baby soap and a fresh clean towel while I package up your cake back in a box for you to take home! Yes that cake is heading home with you to enjoy.

So what do you do then with all that yummy cake?

Some babies destroy their cakes and some just pick at one tiny corner, whatever the case is with your little one there still will be lots of edible cake and here are my two favorite recommendations on what to do with it!

Cake Pops!

The perfect opportunity to turn that cake into yummy deliciousness on a stick! While it's fairly easy to do and I promise you can google and find any number of simple recipes to create your yummy cake pops, the gist of it is smashing up and mixing up your cake with the frosting and all and creating balls from the mixture, freezing them, then dipping them in chocolate and adding fun color sprinkles. Tada! You've taken your smash cake and made it into something brand new that everyone can enjoy. For those of you worried about germs, just cut away the parts that were dug into by your little one and you're good to go!

Homemade Birthday Cake Ice Cream!

Home ice cream makers might be one of the neatest inventions to a toddler or child or heck even an adult for that matter. Pouring in the cream and watching it change from liquid to solid is so much fun. So how does this involve the smash cake? Well quite simply take that cake smash it up into pieces, lay it flat on a baking sheet and freeze it! Bam, the perfect ice cream mix ins to a birthday cake ice cream! No more tossing that smash cake away. Create yummy ice cream and put it to good use!

While I only gave you two options, there's always the classic eat it straight out of the box with a fork option for those parents out there who don't really care what it looks like and flavor is king. Have any other fun ideas of what to do with your kiddos smash cake? Be sure to share them with me at your session so I can pass on your fabulous ideas!
